ai& and GENSHI AI Partner to Power Secure Medical AI Deployment in Japan
— To build a Japan-based LLM platform that enables advanced AI in healthcare while ensuring strict data residency and compliance —

ai& today announced that the company is collaborating with GENSHI AI Inc., a medical AI company, to build a secure large language model (LLM) platform for healthcare institutions in Japan. The companies are currently conducting a proof of concept (PoC), with plans for full-scale rollout in fiscal year 2026. Together, they aim to enable advanced AI while keeping sensitive data within the country.
Unlocking AI's Potential in Japanese Healthcare
The use of LLMs in healthcare is expanding rapidly, including medical record summarization to clinical research support. In Japan, strict regulations, including the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and the “Three Ministries / Two Guidelines,” limit the use of overseas cloud infrastructure for sensitive medical data, creating a central barrier to AI adoption. Meeting this challenge requires both secure domestic infrastructure and practical expertise in clinical environments.
GENSHI AI brings experience developing medical AI in collaboration with university hospitals, including clinical-research AI agents and EMR-integrated solutions. Combined with ai&’s domestic AI data center infrastructure, the partnership is positioned to deliver secure, scalable AI for real-world clinical use.
What the Partnership Delivers
The companies will partner on a solution tailored to healthcare, supporting on-premises, private network, and hybrid deployment models.
Key initiatives include:
Secure LLM deployment in Japan
Validation of LLM operations on ai&'s domestic inference solution, including GENSHI AI’s “MedLocal” solution, using advanced models that keep data fully within Japan.AI applications for clinical workflows
Development of AI agents for clinical research and electronic medical record integration, optimized for operation on ai&’s compute platform.Sovereign medical AI infrastructure
Establishment of infrastructure that stores and processes sensitive medical data domestically, aligned with national guidelines and designed for secure adoption by healthcare institutions.
Looking Ahead
Following the PoC, the companies are targeting full-scale rollout in fiscal year 2026. Planned initiatives include expanding pilots across hospitals, broadening AI use cases such as research support and documentation, and working with medical SaaS providers to extend adoption.
ai& will continue to pursue partnerships to advance AI in sectors where data sovereignty is essential, starting with healthcare.
